That’s the best way to describe the story and artwork of Octavia and Ludovic Welcome Baby Brother.

Author Liliana Tommasini follows up her book Octavia Can Do It! with another engaging story about her real-life grandchildren. The illustrations are by Amariah Raucher.

Octavia and her brother, Ludovic, are excited to learn that they will soon have a baby brother. But when he finally arrives he’s not much fun, sleeping most of the time. Olivia knows she CAN hold and feed the baby, but Mama tells her she’s not quite ready yet. Will she ever be?

My favorite aspect of Tommasini’s stories is her representation of her cross-cultural family as warm and caring; and it’s very important for other cross-cultural families to see that. In fact, it’s important for all families to see.
