The Monday Morning Movie Meeting Cookbook
I've been moderating the class independently since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The "students" are adults aged 60 and older who meet on Monday mornings to discuss movies (hence the name). Each film series has a different theme, from cross-cultural interactions (Film Across Cultures) to science fiction (SciFi Summer) to African Americans in film (Ebony Images) and recently Film Food and Travel.
Though several well-known "food films" made my list immediately, Breaking Bread truly fascinated me. It's a documentary focussing on a food festival that takes place in Haifa, Israel. One of the sentiments of Breaking Bread is that chefs should be the ones to make peace in the world, and that food can be the first step to make that happen. I agree.
So, as my way of bringing my little bit of the world together, I proposed creating this cookbook to the class, and it’s in the spirit of love and cooperation that we bring it to you.
