In a steam-powered world, Arik Fam Tol is a man on the run from The Law of Vroorttown. For months he had avoided capture by going deeper in a woods until he finally feels safe. His assurance disappears when a shabbily dressed woman, running from her captor, suddenly enters his camp. Their meeting triggers a search for each of them to find a haven.
