D. M. Cross is the winner of the 2023 Buchbinder Scholarship!
Earlier this week, I found out that I am the winner of The Buchbinder Scholarship. The scholarship, generously offered by award-winning author Sharon Buchbinder, will allow me to attend the Creatures, Crimes and Creativity (C3) Con by covering the registration and two nights’ accommodation at the convention hotel in Columbia, MD. I’ll also be able to participate in the panels, meals and all con-related activities. The scholarship is given to the unpublished author who can best explain why they think attending the con will help them with their writing and publishing goals.
According to its website, the purpose of the con “is to gather readers and writers of genre fiction–mystery, suspense, thriller, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal – to meet in an informal atmosphere so that everyone can have fun connecting, and learning about writing, the authors and their books.” Along with events for the con-goers, there are readings and book signings that are open to the public.
The Creatures, Crimes and Creativity (C3) Con is sponsored, in part, by the Mystery Writers of America’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter whose members hail from the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
I am so looking forward to attending this con as I am currently working on several projects including a fantasy novella entitled A Long Way From Home and a speculative short story entitled Castle’s Day.
